Argho Biswas grew up in the city of Kolkata referred as “ City of Joy” West Bengal, India. Argho comes from a Christian family and his late father is also an ordained priest. Both of then served in the Diocese of Calcutta for several years together as the senior most and the junior most Priest. Finally, Argho’s father retired in 2015 and Argho continued his journey as a full-time ordained minister with the Diocese for 15 long years over before coming to Australia and joining Anglican Diocese of Melbourne. Argho is married to Chandrani and the couple is blessed with a son Jaden, who is now in his early teens. Argho is bachelor’s in commerce and before joining ministry, worked as a facilitator and taught graphic designing. He met Chandrani at Church during their youth days, and she was the one who made Argho to know God closely and inspired him to study Divinity in later years. Argho applied and was chosen to be sent as an ordinand by theDiocese of Calcutta, Church of North India to Bishop’s College to study Bachelor of Divinity, and on completion of the degree he took on the role of the Diocesan Youth Facilitator, along with being the Curate of St. Paul’s Cathedral, Kolkata. Later he became the Vicar in the Church of Epiphany which has the biggest congregation in the diocese of Kolkata till date. Argho was also the Vicar of St. John’s Church which is the first and the old Cathedral of Kolkata. Argho was actively working with the young people for many years, serving as school and college chaplain. He served in different roles and
capacities in the managing and executive committee of several prominent and famous educational institutions within the diocese for good many years enriching his administration skills. In 2019 Argho did feel the strong urge to move out of his comfort zone and continue his ministry for the Lord perhaps somewhere else and it is during this time he came to know that there may be an opportunity to serve in the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne through his friend Revd. Nigel Pope who also serving in the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne. Argho applied and got this wonderful placement to serve at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Hampton Park. He could only come in 2021 due to Covid restrictions around the world and took charge of the parish from 1st of June 2021.
